RNPros-10/10 staff. Seriously cannot say enough good things about the staff nurses and aids. -10/10 manager. She even worked the floor and floated to other units when necessary.-Ratios always reasonable- 1:2 max in ICU and 1:4 on med surge (sometimes up to 1:5 but I never had 5)-Travelers put into float rotation with staff. I went to med surge 3 times in 13 weeks. -Travelers never get called off per contract. -Schedule. I was there Oct 30 to Jan 28. I didn't request any holidays off, and yet was ONLY scheduled on Christmas. I thought that was very generous of them. The manager was also good at block scheduling. -Sick patients get airlifted to Phoenix valley area hospitals so most patients are pretty stable unless preparing to transfer. Cons-6 AM START TIME. Nobody told me during the entire submission, interview, and orientation process so I didnt find out until I showed up at 7 on my first day. I had even come in the day before for my badge and unit tour. Shifts are 6-6:30. -AllScripts charting system. It's not the worst, but not intuitive. -Omnicell. Not the worst, but again, not great. -The town is super boring. Again, I was there in winter, but it snowed all the time so there was no hiking I could do and nothing in the town to do. -It turns out I am severely allergic to Arizona and had full body rashes, elevation sickness, and bloody noses from the dry air. I am from the Seattle area.Chelsea Dick, Icu Show Low, AZOverall, I would hesitate to return because I despise the 6 am start time, but beyond that would absolutely recomend the hospital!
