Job Title: Operating Room (OR) Supervisor – Registered Nurse (Travel Position)

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operating Room (OR) Supervisor to join our team as a travel nurse. This role is ideal for a seasoned RN who specializes in perioperative nursing and possesses leadership skills to oversee surgical team operations in diverse healthcare settings. The OR Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and efficiency during surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
Directly supervise OR staff, including nurses, surgical techs, and other team members.
Assign tasks, evaluate performance, and address any issues in a timely manner.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and appropriate skill mix in the OR.
Clinical Expertise:
Oversee preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, ensuring adherence to protocols.
Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to optimize patient outcomes.
Respond to emergencies and provide expert guidance during surgical procedures.
Compliance & Safety:
Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO).
Monitor infection control practices and ensure a sterile environment.
Enforce safety protocols to protect patients and staff during surgeries.
Administrative Duties:
Develop and update OR policies and procedures in collaboration with facility leadership.
Track and manage inventory of surgical supplies and equipment.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and report performance metrics.
Education & Development:
Mentor and train OR staff, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
Conduct in-services and competency evaluations for the surgical team.
Requirements:
Licensure:
Active and unrestricted RN license in the state(s) of assignment.
Compact State License preferred.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of OR nursing experience, including supervisory or leadership roles.
Travel nursing experience is a plus.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) strongly preferred.
Skills:
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and healthcare teams.
