Cytotechnologist
Position: Cytotechnologist – Travel
Lic/Certs: Current state license required.
13 week travel assignment – start ASAP
A facility in [CITY & STATE] is looking for a Cytotechnologist for a 13 week travel assignment.This is a [TIME] shift position.

Essential Work Functions
- Maintains effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen collection, preparation, or laboratory safety
- Documents specimens by verifying patient and specimen identification.
- Prepares microscopic slides from specimens of blood, scrapings, or other bodily exudates
- Fixes and stains slide to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under microscope.
- Examines slide under microscope to identify abnormalities in cell structure. Reports abnormalities to pathologist for further evaluation
- Performs quality control checks of instruments, solutions, and test results against established standards
- Adjusts, maintains, or repairs laboratory equipment such as microscopes.
- Applies time management skills and prioritizes so that results are completed within the designated time frames.
- Communicates in an effective manner, both oral and written, among a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates a Customer Service behavior that is positive, friendly, helpful and courteous to both the public and to all fellow workers.
- Does not arrive late to work (more than 5 minutes past the start of a shift) and maintains an attendance record which is within the standards required by the facility.
- Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals
- Adherence to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- One years’ experience as a Cytotechnologist required
- Current state license if required
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
- Physical Abilities: Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending.
Essential Required Skills
- Interpersonal Skills – to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and a professional appearance.
- Technical/Motor Skills – Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements – Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail.
- Sensory – Visual acuity, ability to effectively communicate
