Job Title: Labor & Delivery (L&D) Technician
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor & Delivery (L&D) Technician to join our team. In this critical role, you will provide support to nursing staff and physicians in the labor and delivery unit, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for mothers and newborns. As an L&D Technician, you will assist with various tasks related to labor and delivery, contributing to high-quality patient care and positive birth experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Room Preparation: Set up delivery rooms with necessary equipment and supplies, ensuring a sterile and organized environment for labor and delivery.
Patient Support: Assist nurses and physicians in providing care to laboring mothers, offering comfort measures and support throughout the labor process.
Monitoring: Help monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, ensuring timely reporting of any changes to nursing staff.
Assisting in Deliveries: Support the healthcare team during deliveries by handling instruments, positioning patients, and assisting with procedures as directed.
Newborn Care: Provide immediate care to newborns after delivery, including weighing, measuring, and performing initial assessments.
Equipment Sterilization and Maintenance: Clean, sterilize, and maintain L&D equipment and instruments, adhering to infection control protocols.
Documentation: Accurately record and update patient information, procedure details, and equipment usage in accordance with facility guidelines.
Collaboration: Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and coordinated care for mothers and infants.
Qualifications
Certification: Certification as a Nursing Assistant, Surgical Technician, or equivalent experience in a labor and delivery setting is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Labor & Delivery unit or related area.
Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and empathy skills to effectively support patients and their families.
