Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our team on a travel assignment. The ideal candidate will assist Speech-Language Pathologists in providing speech and language therapy services to patients under their supervision. This role involves working with diverse patient populations, helping to implement therapy plans, and documenting patient progress in various healthcare and educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Speech-Language Pathologists in the assessment and treatment of speech, language, and communication disorders.
Implement individualized therapy plans, including exercises, activities, and techniques prescribed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Conduct therapy sessions under the direction of the Speech-Language Pathologist, providing support to patients in improving speech, language, and swallowing functions.
Monitor patient progress, document changes, and report observations to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Assist with the development of treatment plans and modify therapy strategies based on patient response and progress.
Support patients in a variety of settings, including schools, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and outpatient clinics.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on exercises, techniques, and strategies to reinforce therapy goals outside of scheduled sessions.
Maintain accurate and timely records of patient assessments, progress, and therapy interventions.
Travel to various healthcare and educational facilities as required, providing speech-language assistance in different clinical environments.
Adhere to all ethical and professional standards, ensuring the confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA compliance).
Qualifications:
Required:
Completion of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program.
State licensure or certification (where applicable) as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience assisting in speech-language therapy, including working with patients in various settings.
Knowledge of speech-language development and disorders, as well as therapy techniques and interventions.
Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, following established treatment plans and protocols.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and clinical teams.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and patient documentation practices.
Ability to adapt to new environments, procedures, and patient populations quickly.
Preferred:
Previous experience as a travel SLPA.
Experience working with a diverse range of patients, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
Certification in CPR and first aid.
Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and technology.
Working Conditions:
Travel required to various healthcare and educational facilities for temporary assignments.
Flexible working hours, including potential evening or weekend shifts, depending on patient needs and assignment location.
Exposure to various healthcare environments, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, schools, and rehabilitation centers.
Ability to work in diverse settings, adapting to different team dynamics and therapy practices.
Occasional physical demands may include standing for extended periods, assisting with patient mobility, and lifting therapy equipment.
