Facility Details:
If candidate worked permanently at facility in the past, must wait 1 year before returning
If Candidate traveled with another agency – must wait 6 months before applying through Fastaff
RNs will have Continuing Education Modules they are responsible for keeping up on during assignment
-Parking: Is signed up for during onboarding (orientation week) – it is paid by the traveler and ranges from $14 – $58.34 per month. Travelers are provided the contact information to sign up for their choice based on availability.
-EMR: Cerner
-Scrubs: Navy
-Block scheduling will not be accommodated

Orientation Details:
-FDI will be sent to all travelers, regardless of new/renew/return no later than Fridays before their contract start date.

-Email is titled Welcome to UAB and sometimes goes to the junk/spam folder for whatever reason. Please make sure your talent knows to check those folders as well. It will be sent from travelers@uabmc.edu or Chasity Winston.

Orientation week schedule for those who are new or have not been at UAB in 11-12 months will be as follows;
 

  • Wednesday: work on modules onsite at computer lab noted in FDI
  • Thursday:  pick up ID Badge and Parking Permit, reach out to manager for schedule if you have not received.
  • Friday: 8a-12:30p – Impact Training onsite, Unit Orientation

Please make sure you use your company time sheet to keep up with hours completing HealthStreams, Impact Training, and Unit Orientation. The modules take between 6-8 hours of time. The computer class is 8 hours. Then you will be set up for two 12 hour unit orientation shifts.

Please send your first weeks’ time sheet totravelerpay@uabmc.edu no later than the 7 am Monday following your first week.

Position Details:
-BLS, ACLS required
-Previous travel experience required
-MINIMUM 5+ YEARS in SDU & M/S required
This is a mixed SDU & M/S position, RN needs to have experience in both units
-Pulmonary experience required
-Vent experience required
-Ratios – 1: 5-6 for MS TELE, 1:3 for SDU
-29 beds total: 6 SDU beds, 23 M/S beds, 
-RN are expected to care for COVID pts as needed and dictated by census
-48 hrs (4 12hr shifts)
-Every other weekend is required

RNs will be assigned a home unit but may be asked to float. See below for details:
-Home Unit is: 6 South – Pulmonary

M/S Units Include: M/S, Surgical, Ortho, Nephrology, General Med/Infectious disease, GI Surgical Onc, Trauma Recover, Neuro
TELE Units Include: Transplant, Acute trauma, GI, Head and Neck, Plastics, Urology, Burn, Ortho, Cardiovascular/Thoracic

Floating expectation: 
These unit based travelers would be expected to float to like units (if necessary), in rotation with UAB unit specific staff. There is a potential that rotation can be changed to ensure that each unit has an ANM/Charge nurse (shift leader) that is familiar with UAB.
